As our firm enters its next chapter in 2026, we wanted to take a moment to recognize the leadership that helped shape who we are today.
Bill MacAvoy has been a guiding presence at Cushman & Wakefield Atlantic since 2008, when he stepped into the role of Managing Director. In 2011, he acquired the business from the previous owners, continuing a family legacy in Atlantic Canadian commercial real estate while positioning the firm for sustained, regional growth.
Over the years, Bill led the company with a steady hand and a clear sense of where it needed to go. His leadership was defined less by headlines and more by consistency. He believed deeply in relationships, in local market knowledge, and in building trust through thoughtful, principled work. Those values became foundational to the firm’s culture and reputation across the region.

Under Bill’s ownership, Cushman & Wakefield Atlantic expanded across the four Atlantic provinces and grew into one of the region’s largest commercial real estate advisory firms. More importantly, the firm earned respect for its professionalism, collaborative approach, and commitment to the communities it serves.
Bill was also deeply invested in developing people. Many advisors and team members built their careers under his leadership, benefiting from an environment that encouraged accountability, curiosity, and growth. His belief in succession and long-term planning helped ensure the firm was positioned to evolve while staying true to its roots.
As ownership transitions to the next generation of leadership, the foundation Bill established remains firmly in place. The standards he set, the culture he fostered, and the relationships he valued continue to guide how the firm operates today.
